Short Term Visa to Australia
If you are interested in traveling to Australia for a short-term visit, or a specific purpose, one of the following short term visas may suit you:
Visitor Visa
If you intend to travel to Australia for tourism or to visit family and friends, you may be eligible to apply for a Visitor Visa.
The current visa options are a short stay visa for visits of three months or less or a long stay visa for visits of between three to six months.
Depending on the country of your citizenship, you may be eligible to obtain a visitor visa on the internet or through your travel agent.
Sponsored Visitor
If you have relatives in Australia and you have experienced some difficulty in obtaining a Visitor Visa in the past, you may be eligible for a Sponsored Visitor Visa in order to travel to Australia for a stay of up to three months.
Your relative will be required to sponsor your application and may be asked to place a bond which will be returned to them after your return home provided you have complied with your visa conditions.
Medical Treatment
If you need to travel to Australia in order to undergo medical treatment or to attend medical consultations, you may be eligible to apply for a Medical Treatment (Visitor) Visa. There are various conditions to be met, including that you must provide evidence that you have sufficient funds to support yourself (and any accompanying persons) during your stay.
Working Holiday
If you are between 18-30 and you are a citizen of one of the agreement countries (see below), you may be eligible to holiday in Australia for up to 12 months and to undertake casual employment during your stay.
The current agreement countries are: t he United Kingdom , Canada , the Netherlands , Japan , the Republic of Ireland , the Republic of Korea , Malta , Germany , Denmark , Sweden , Norway , the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China , Finland , the Republic of Cyprus , Italy and France .
